AFC U-16 Championship Iraq 2-0 Thailand

Iraq defeated Thailand with two goals scored in two minutes. According to this result, Thailand doesn’t have any chance to qualify for the next round and Iraq has secured its promotion to the quarter final. Sherko Kareem and Mohammed Khazaal were two scorers of Iraq who opened Thailand’s goal on 63′ and 65′.

The game kicked off at Rah Ahan Stadium. This match received around 200 attendees and most of them were Iraqis. Even Iranian young fans cheered Iraq especially after scoring two goals.

“The game was totally good but we lost it. In fact we had many difficulties to prepare our squad for taking part in this competition. Schools didn’t cooperate with our team and we were not totally free to pick up our players. By the way two mistakes from our side caused this failure but Iraq was really good.” Thailand coach Leones Pereira Dos Santos said.

Iraq coach Muwafaq Hussein Zaidan also praised Thailand football team and said: “They did great in this match and they came for win.” He complained from the short rest time between games and said this problem will cause injuries to players who are at the age of sixteen.
