AFC U-16 Championship South Korea, Japan, Syria and Uzbekistan Qualified for Quarter finals

South Korea, Japan, Syria and Uzbekistan are four other teams qualified for quarter-finals.

In the fifth day of 2012 AFC U-16 Championship, Syria defeated Uzbekistan with one goal scored by Alhusni on 33′ and qualified as the first team of Group D to the next round. In the other match from this group, China PR held by Indians. Lalhlimpuia scored the first goal for India on 19′ but Chinese came from behind and scored two goals on 21′ and 33′ by Wang Jinxian and Zhang Yuning respectively. China had great chance to qualify for the next round until 94′. In the last minute of the match Naser Al Ghafari, referee from Jordan, announced a penalty kick for Indians and Mendes scored the equalizer goal. That killed the chance of China PR and defeated Uzbekistan qualified as the second team to the next round.

In Group C, South Korea came over Saudi Arabia by one goal. However South Korea had already secured its qualification for the quarter finals. Saudi Arabia left the tournament without collecting any point from three matches. On the other determining game between Japan and North Korea, Japanese beat their opponent by three goals. Nakamura on 14′, Sugimoto on 49′ and Ogawa on 89′ scored three goals for their side. Base on the results, Japan qualified to knock out phase as the second team from Group C.

In quarter finals, South Korea will face with Uzbekistan and Syria meets Japan on 30 September.
