Amazon continues to keep its hand in various different pots with the latest being Amazon Giveaways. The new service launched today and focuses around contests involving goods that can be found on the site.
The value of goods before the giveaway is official falls between $500 and $5,000 and a maximum of 50 prizes. That aside, users can pretty much put together a giveaway with little effort and have Amazon handle the heavy lifting. The most effort on the part of users is picking prizes—items–to be offered in the giveaway.
The company takes care of sending notifications to winners, shipping and handling, and tax tasks. Basically all the tasks that would knock a giveaway from being a great idea and a potentially fun event to an utter bother on the verge of being scrapped.
As expected, users will need to have a clean Amazon account and the funds to cover the costs of the prizes and shipping. With that out of the way, users are able to either run lottery-style giveaways that require winners to have a matching number that the user selects or first come first serve.
Currently Amazon has gotten the ball rolling with giveaways of its own and are expecting many other people and companies of note—known creators, organizations, etc—to join in and run promotions.
