AT&T Customers Will Get Android 8.0 on Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

It’s been a long time coming but AT&T has finally gotten the latest Android OS to its customers. If you are still using the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, you will now be able to update the operating system to Android 8.0 Oreo in the U.S.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Announcement August 9th

Note that Oreo was released in August of last year and we’re currently on 8.1.0 as of last week. The update first hit the UK last week but was pulled due to issues. AT&T then resumed the Android 8.0 rollout for the S7 line a couple of days afterward once things were cleared up.

There is a definite first here as AT&T is the only major carrier in the country to update customers on S7s to Oreo. Verizon was planning to do so before AT&T but later pulled out of updating. While the company hasn’t announced when it would roll out Android 8.0, expect Verizon to do so in the coming weeks.

For those still using their S7 and S7 Edge, the updated versions will be G930AUCU4CRE4 (S7) and G935AUCU4CRE4 (S7 Edge). As usual with AT&T, this will be an over-the-air update.
