Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi Criticizes Food Prices Rising

Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi criticized food prices rising during his speech in Qom.

“Government must do their best in order to control food prices in market especially during the holy month of Ramadan. All groups of people should be able to provide all type of foods for their families.” Makarem Shirazi said.

“However I have personally decided to not eat chicken no more because of its high price. I encourage people to do the same to cope with the prices rising. Physicians also recommend people to not use meats and chickens regularly.” Makarem Shirazi added.

Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shiraz is a spiritual guide for many Shia Muslims. He used to issue several controversial Fatwas and viewpoints about women’s attendance in stadiums, Smoking, Holocaust and Fatwa against rapper Shahin Najafi.

Recently the prices of nourishment materials have increased dramatically in Iran. The price of chicken had been doubled during the recent one month. Experts believe these changes are affected by the new sanctions against Iran over the case of nuclear program.
