Communications Minister Reza Taghipour Warns of Mahdi Trojan

Reza Taghipour, the Head of Ministry of Information and Communications Technology of Iran, warned of the Mahdi Trojan.

“The new Trojan named Mahdi can start its operations via Word and PowerPoint files. If users open the infected files, this virus will perform its destructive and espionage tasks. Emails, files and content sent by unknown people may contain this virus, so users must be careful about them.” Reza Taghipour said.

“Iran’s MAHER Center has found this malware. In this center we are working 24 hours a day like a military base in order to defuse the foes’ operations. Mahdi Trojan can filter the passwords and send them for malware’s runners. This Trojan can also enable the microphone and record the environment voices then upload it to the provisioned servers.” Reza Taghipour added.

Iran believes Israel have coded and created this malware, however the Israeli sides say it is made in Iran. According to reports, two third of computers in Israel are infected with this malware.
