Deputy Mayor: Currency Crisis has Increased Labor Problems in Iran

Seyed Jafar Tashakori Hashemi, Deputy Mayor and Director of Tehran Traffic and Transportation Organization, criticized the currency crisis and attributed it to the mismanagement of the government.

“When foreign currency rates increase against Iranian Rial, the prices of all the living items increase too and this makes many problems for Iranian labors. Increasing the salary of the labors and staffers cannot help them to recover from the conditions.” Seyed Jafar Tashakori Hashemi said. Today Iranian workers, mainly from Tehran Bus Company, gathered in front of on the Tehran’s City Council to express their protests for hard economic conditions.

“The workers and staffers of Tehran Bus Company have good salary but they cannot manage their cost of livings normally. This is an important question for those who manage Iran’s economy. Dollar exchange rate affects on the livings of workers and adds high pressures on their lives. We hope government addresses the current economic problems in country.” Seyed Jafar Tashakori Hashemi added.

Hashemi also referred to the well growth of average salary of workers in compare to 7 years ago when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took power in Iran but emphasized on their current problems.
