Emirates to Settle The Dispute With Iran Over Abu Musa

During a cabinet meeting chaired by Vice President, Prime Minister and ruler of the Persian Gulf emirate of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Sunday, Emirati cabinet members affirmed Abu Dhabi’s keenness to maintain good neighborly relations with Tehran.

They also stressed the importance of settling the dispute over Abu Musa, the Greater Tunb and the Lesser Tunb islands through direct bilateral negotiations or the International Court of Justice.

Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs United Arab Emirates, said his country wants to keep the good relationships with Iran despite of the recent rifts.

Gargash said UAE is not that tiny and new born country in 1971. “Currently UAE has a perfect role in the regional decisions. We prefer diplomacy solutions in this dispute with Iran. We will have better and active diplomacy in future over this subject.” He added.
