Esteghlal and Persepolis to Hold 75th Derby of Tehran Tomorrow

Esteghlal and Persepolis, two most famous and popular Iranian football clubs, will hold 75th derby of Tehran tomorrow at Azadi sport complex.

Currently both sides have bad conditions in Iran Pro League especially Persepolis. Reds has lost three matches out of five in the current season and they have collected only four points so far. Persepolis is 16th in the standings table. Manuel Jose, Portuguese coach of Persepolis, doesn’t have much popularity between fans so if his side loose the match he may be get fired by Mohammad Royanian, Persepolis’s president. On the other side, Blues have earned 8 points from 5 games, somehow better than their archrival.

It is good to know that this match was declared as the most important derby in Asia and 22nd most important derby in the world in June 2008 by World Soccer magazine. The match attracts many fans to the main stadium of Tehran. At least 70,000 bystanders will attend the stadium to cheer their favor team.

According to the announcement by Iran’s Football Federation, Mohsen Torki is the referee of this match. Torki will be assisted by Reza Sokhandan and Hasan Kamranifar and Ahmad Salehi has been selected as the fourth official during the 75th derby of Tehran.
