Facebook Allows Live Streaming For Verified Pages

Facebook Allows Live Streaming For Verified Pages

If you’ve got a verified Page on Facebook, you’ll now be able use their Facebook Live service. Facebook Live allows for live streaming similar to Meerkat and Twitter’s Periscope services.

Facebook feels that the primary draw of expanding the service to Pages that are verified is to promote brands via live content in the way of panels, giveaways, discussions, surprise performances, breaking news, training camps, workshops, behind the scenes events—basically anything that would’ve been bonus or exclusive content years ago when it came to brand promotion.

To kick off their stream, Page owners just need to hit Publish then Live Video, write a description, and get started. Like any live streaming service the number of viewers is kept in view, other verified Pages, and comments. After the stream is done, the video will remain for followers to check out afterwards, but can be deleted.

The feature will only be available on Facebook for iOS to start. Periscope and Meerkat already have a foothold in the mobile live streaming arena, but verified Pages do have billions to stream for in Facebook’s user base.
