Iran’s glass production includes 2.4% of the world’s production. The Secretary of the Association of Iran’s Glass Hossein Zojaji said 2 million tons of glasses have been produced in Iran.

Zojaji said different kinds of glasses are produced inside the country but the flat glasses are the major types produced widely. He added the traditional way of glass production has been replaced by the modern one in Iran which would play a significant role in different fields of energy, environment, safety and quality.

He noted $100 million glasses have been exported to foreign countries in 2011, adding Iran has obtained self-sufficiency in the industry and aims to launch float glass production-line in Syria as well.

Zojaji pointed out that 35% of the equipment required for the industry is produced locally, noting Iran receives glass industry from China and some European countries.
