Base on the recent announcements by Irancell and Hamrahe Aval, two major mobile operators in Iran, Iranians sent more than 1,375,000,000 short text messages to felicitate Eid al-Fitr.
Irancell’s clients sent 735,015,448 SMSs in only 48 hours (from Monday to Wednesday) and subscribers of Hamrahe Aval sent 639,324,094 short messages in the same time. Accordingly Iranians set a new record in aspect of sending mobile messages. Earlier they sent 1,066,500,000 messages in Nowruz 1390 which was the highest number of SMSs in Iran.
Irancell announced that more than 98.5% of those messages delivered accurately and Hamrahe Aval said its delivery rate was only 91.56%. Base on calculations, these two operators made more than $11,785,000 from their SMS services in only 48 hours.
The total number of mobile subscribers in Iran is estimated more than 50 million. Currently Hamrahe Aval is the biggest mobile operator in the Middle East region.
