Iran’s Nuclear Negotiator in Baghdad For Talks

Iranian Chief Nuclear Negotiator Saeed Jalili left for Baghdad for the next round of talks between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.

This round of dialogue is a follow-up to talks held on May 15 in Istanbul where the two sides agreed to meet again in Baghdad.

Deputies of Iranian Chief Nuclear Negotiator and the EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton have been commissioned to meet to prepare a framework for mutual cooperation.

Representatives of the P5+1 except French envoy are the same ones participated in Istanbul talks.

Jalili is scheduled to meet with some Iraqi officials Tuesday.

He is accompanied by his deputy Ali Bagheri, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, Foreign Minister Advisor Hamid-Reza Asgari and Mostafa Dowlatyar.

Jalili was going to be welcomed by Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari at Baghdad Airport. The next round of talks is scheduled for Wednesday between Iran and representatives of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.

Iraqi officials said that logistic measures and required coordination for Wednesday talks have been over. Over 200 correspondents and reporters are expected to cover the talks.

The IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano arrived in Tehran Monday and met with some Iranian high-ranking officials including Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Chief Fereydown Abbasi.
