Javier Clemente set for Sporting Gijon post

La Liga strugglers Sporting Gijon have named former Spain coach Javier Clemente as the club’s new coach .

Clemente will replace caretaker Inaki Tejada, who assigned as the head coach after the sacking of Manolo Preciado in early February . Inaki Tejada received only one point in last 4 matches .

The 61-year-old , will take the job until the end of this season , will officially be presented on Tuesday afternoon .

The Basque-born boss joins Sporting with the difficult task of guiding the club out of the relegation zone, as they sit 19th of 20 teams on the La Liga table with just 19 points from 22 matches . Sporting Gijon is 6 socres behind of Granada in 17th position .

Gijon will host Atlético Madrid in the next week of La Liga .

Clemente, who has also guided Athletic Bilbao, Atletico Madrid and Marseille, among other clubs, will now return to La Liga after a brief spell with the Cameroon national team . His latest success as a manager was winning Spanish Cup with Athletic Bilbao in 1983–84 season .
