Lyft has dropped its long time icon the Glowstache and will take use a bright LED display called the Amp as its new icon as it moves forward in growth.
The Amp is part of Lyft’s new #RideOnTheBrightSide campaign which promotes the company as being all for driver and rider happiness during rides. The campaign puts Lyft out there as the energetic company that puts fast pickup and drop off times and safety ahead of profits.
Where the Amp comes in is with the display showing the rider’s name on the back on pickup as well as other messages. In addition to displaying rider names, it helps in avoiding rider confusion by displaying the color that the rider selects from their phone to let them know which ride is theirs.
The other part of the #RideOnTheBrightSide campaign lies in several ads which shows a competitor—not saying it’s Uber—spying on Lyft’s rides and being confused at how fast and smoothly the company is picking up and dropping off customers.
From there the competitor’s heads plot the demise of Lyft by throwing around ideas without taking into account that both driver and riders are happy which makes for a better ride or attempting to fix their own operation.
The ads come at good time as its main competitor Uber deals with the freelancer-worker issue in regards to drivers’ employment status and a suit from Flywheel that aims to paint the company as the worst.
Expect Amp to make its U.S debut New Year’s Eve, just in time for the festivities rolling into 2017.
