Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, praised Iraqi officials due to holding the previous round of negotiations between Iran and 5+1 group over the Iran’s controversial nuclear program.
Ahmadinejad sent separate thankful letters to Jalal Talabani, President of Iraq, and Nouri al-Maliki, Prime Minister of Iraq. In his letter, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad thanked Iraqi government for hosting the sessions between Iranian government and 5+1 group. However Iran and 5+1 group didn’t reach to any notable achievements and decided to hold the next round of negotiations in Moscow.
Iran–Iraq relations have flourished since 2005 by the exchange of high level visits: Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki makes frequent visits, along with Jalal Talabani visiting numerous times, to help boost bilateral cooperation in all fields.
A few days ago Mohsen Rezaei, Iranian Politician, said Iran had reached to many achievements during those negotiations by saying: “Currently we have good condition on our country’s diplomacy. We are stepping forward on the subject of nuclear negotiations and we have reached a lot of achievements in this way.”
