Mohammad-Reza Bahonar, First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Iran, warned about the Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s project for the upcoming presidential election and said his government must not misuse its power and facilities to change the results of the election. Bahonar believes Ahmadinejad is the “central” figure in election and he has started his activities.
“Although Mr President says he doesn’t have any plan for the next election but we cannot believe it. He has definitely started his activities and clearly he has determined plans.” Mohammad-Reza Bahonar said on Thursday.
According to the constitution of Iran, Ahmadinejad is not allowed to take part in next election because he has served eight years in row as the president of Islamic Republic. Analysts say Ahmadinejad is looking to implement Putin-Medvedev scheme in country. Reports suggest Iran’s current president will support his former deputy, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, in next election.
During the recent live interview with state run channel in Iran, Ahmadinejad said the operation of the current government will not be ended this year. This comment has sparked strict criticisms against Ahmadinejad.
