NBA 2K14 On Xbox One and PS4 Penalizes Players For Salty Language

An Xbox One player enjoying NBA 2K14 became a new internet sensation after a YouTube video of him getting penalized by Kinect for swearing…in his house.

By now we know the Kinect and PS4 Eye can do many things: detect motion, recognize your voice, and so on. It can also detect if you’ve been naughty or nice when playing with other players apparently.

In the video, player randomfrankp catches a technical foul from the game for foul language. That doesn’t sit well with him and he blasts the game with an F-bomb. The PlayStation Camera also allows for the PS4 version of NBA 2K14 to penalize players for salty language.

In speaking with Slate 2K said that the feature was also in NBA 2K13 and that they felt it added a degree of immersion to gameplay as penalties for swearing and poor conduct are a part of most team sports.
