Paulo Silas Extends His Contract With Al-Gharafa

Paulo Silas do Prado Pereira, Brazilian football manager, extends his contract with Qatari club Al Gharafa for additional one season.

After negotiations between authorities of Al Gharafa and Paulo Silas, both sides decided to renew the current contract for another season. On March 19, 2012 Silas has replaced Bruno Metsu as Al Gharafa new coach. Silas led Al Gharafa to win the 2012 Emir of Qatar Cup on May 12 after they defeated Al Sadd on penalties. However Silas couldn’t help his side to promote from groups stage to knockout phase in AFC Champions League tournoment. During his playing career from 1985 to 2003 he played in Brazil, Portugal, Uruguay, Argentina, Japan and Italy at São Paulo, Sport Club Internacional, Vasco da Gama, Atlético Paranaense, Rio Branco (SP), Ituano, América (MG), Portuguesa, Internacional de Limeira, Sporting Lisbon, San Lorenzo de Almagro, Central Español, Kyoto Purple Sanga, A.C. Cesena and U.C. Sampdoria. He used to be the head coach of other Qatari club, Al Arabi, in 2011-12.

Currently the Iranian Farhad Majidi is playing for Al Gharafa. He joined this team in mid season window. Until now Farhad Majidi has not yet define his next destionation but local sources say hi will join Al-Wakrah Sports Club in the next season.
