Servet Tazegul won the gold medal of of London Olympics 2012 Taekwondo men’s featherweight 68kg by defeating Mohammad Bagheri Motamed.
Before starting the final match, Iranian side beat Brazilian Diogo Silva, Rohullah Nikpah from Afghanistan and David Boui of Central African Republic while Servet Tazegul defeated American Terrence Jennings, Hryhorii Husarov from Ukraine and Martin Stamper of Great Britain.
Mohammad Bagheri Motamed started his career in 1991 to keep himself fit but his ambition was achieving an Olympic gold medal. He trained under the tutelage of Reza Mehmandust and Fariborz Asgari. Its good to know that, Mohammad Bagheri Motamed was student of Tehran University but he decided to leave his courses in physical education because his training was affecting his grades. Mohammad Bagheri Motamed has previously won gold medals at 2009 World Taekwondo Championships, 2010 Asian Games, 2010 and 2008 Asian Taekwondo Championships and 2007 Summer Universiade.
Servet Tazegul began taekwondo at the Kaiser Leopard Club when he was 5 years old when he was influenced by one of his neighbors. He couldn’t win the gold medal in China but his goal was winning gold medal in London 2012. He has claimed gold medals in 2011 World Taekwondo Championships beside 2012, 2010 and 2008 European Taekwondo Championships.
