Showtime Apps Now Offering Offline Viewing

Joining Netflix in offering offline viewing, Showtime’s mobile app will allow subscribers to download videos to watch offline. The feature went live earlier this week and features many of the network’s top shows such as Weeds, Billions, Ray Donovan, and Dexter–which is on Netflix.

If Showtime’s implementing the new feature helps in the same way it has done for Netflix, this could mean big things for when the network’s next big series hits. On demand streaming is ever changing from the hit series that come out of it to the means that subscribers enjoy those series.

Offering offline viewing seems like something that should have happened some time ago with TV and movie end of streaming—it’s long been a thing on the music end—but it’s better later than never with streaming services being competitive with broadcast networks and now each other. As always, expect other streaming services to offer offline viewing.

Subscribers can access the feature via the network’s Showtime and Showtime Anytime apps on iOS (Anytime) or Android (Anytime).
