As Iranian Rial is losing its value against foreign currencies on daily basis, the German embassy in Tehran announced that it will no longer accept Iranian Rial for visa applications fees and asked the clients to pay all the fees in Euro.
“From November 4, 2012 the embassy will only take Euro in cash for visa application fees. Since the embassy has limited small bills so please pay all the necessary fees as exactly as possible. Embassy doesn’t accept local and international credit and debit cards.” Deutsche Botschaft Teheran announced in its statement published yesterday.
The visa fees, regardless of the outcome of visa application, will not be refunded in any way. However the embassy noted that it will continue accepting Iranian Rials for consulate’s fees including German passport issuance, verification of documents and etc.
Refuse the accepting of Iranian Rial has a clear message for Iranian nationals. Even the embassy was struggling to exchange its local funds into international currencies so it has requested the applicants to pay the fees in Euro.
The German embassy is located in Tehran’s Ferdosi Street.
