It looks as though Twitter has filed trademarks regarding its future in security on the social network and for another unrelated app. The plans first are plans for API and SDK aimed towards the security aspect of Twitter and will be branded as “The Future of Identity.”
The trademark for “The Future of Identity” and related software was filed towards the end of March. Things generally point to a security use for “The Future of Identity,” but it could very well be used for other things that could help pull new users to Twitter or observe their viewing behavior. As usual the use of that data gathered would be to assist in marketing future apps, services, or features towards users of the social network—which apps would go over well with viewers or which ones would sink.
Filed in early April, the second yet to be named trademark was for an app that is supposed to handle live streaming news. While there is really nothing else to add about what the live streaming news app can do, the trademark cites that users would be able to “upload, post, display, stream and share videos and digital content.”
