Apple users have been patiently waiting for an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5 for about four months now, but it all could change this Sunday. Jailbreaking gets tougher and tougher every time Apple releases a new device along with continuous iOS software updates, it’s incredible how all the security researchers and hackers come together to achieve a jailbreak.
The team of hackers and security experts are set to release a jailbreaking tool, Evasi0n, Sunday after the Super Bowl. The team of jailbreakers goes by the twitter handle @Evad3rs. As you can see in the picture above, the website shows a loading bar about 80% complete; with the words “Private beta testing has started for OS X, Windows and Linux. Come back soon!” Evasi0n.com mentions only four steps are needed in order to achieve the jailbreak:
• 5 minutes of your time!
• A computer, running Windows (XP minimum), Mac OS X (10.5 minimum) or Linux (x86 / x86_64)
• An iPhone, iPad or iPod running iOS 6.0 through 6.1 (you may check in Settings / General / About => Version)
• A USB cable to connect the device to the computer
From everything we see, this jailbreak could one of the most user friendly jailbreaks since the launch of JailBreak.Me. Evasion is “Compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 6.0 through 6.1”.
