In recent years brick and mortar stores have gradually lost out to online shopping—especially from marketplaces like Amazon. Cyber Monday has become the main event of the holiday shopping season with Black Friday taking hits each year. To get in on the cash that comes through from big deals during Cyber Monday, Walmart is running its online super day on Sunday with Cyber Week.
Walmart has said that it was moving its Cyber Monday up because holiday shoppers have changed from years ago. In speaking with Reuters the retailer basically chalked it up to “Now everyone has Internet.” It’s a simple point with weight to it. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday shoppers can avoid lines, traffic, getting up a few hours later while still full of food, and bouncing from store to store in hopes that goods are still in stock.
If you’re on the holiday shoppers looking to avoid all of that and you’re considering using Walmart, the retailer is kicking off everything at 8PM with 2,000 deals to browse. The company is also running a pre-Black Friday promotion at the moment.
