World Sport Group, the company which holds the broadcasting rights of 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification in Asia, confirmed that Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting organization (IRIB) will air the match between Iran and South Korea tonight live.
A few days ago the officials of IRIB promised to broadcast this game live for Iranian fans. Shyamala Velappan, the spokeswoman of WSG, informed Kabir News that the negotiations were completed and IRIB is allowed to broadcast this match. No more details provided at this time.
IRIB couldn’t broadcast the previous match of Team Melli in front of Lebanon which finished with 1-0 loss for Iran. However IRIB tried to show the match using the pictures from Al Jazeera Sport channel. Local fans were angered by the decision of IRIB but Gholamreza Rafiee, the jurisconsult of Iran’s state television, accused World Sport Group for asking much money to sell broadcasting rights of 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification in Asia. He referred to same issues happened for Lebanese and Korean televisions. WSG issued a statement and refused all the claims made by Gholamreza Rafiee.
Iran will meet the Korean team on Tuesday in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium in Group A of the 2014 World Cup qualifier.
