9 Policemen Killed in Southern Afghanistan

Senior police official said today that the Afghan Taliban insurgents killed nine men from a local police force in the south of the country . “The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when a number of militants attacked a checkpoint manned by local police.” The officer Gulab Khan said from the Office of Criminal Investigations of Uruzgan province .

He added that the undercover agent helped the militants in the attack on a checkpoint in the village, “O’Shea” Charcheno area in the province,  “We have started investigations to reach him.” He added .

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and announced gunmen killed ten policemen .

It is noteworthy that local police forces are formed by the national authorities in cooperation with the international forces for maintaining law and order in remote communities that do not exist by the forces of the Afghan National Police .
