AFC U-16 Championship Iran, Australia and Iraq Wins Their Opening Matches

Iran, Australia and Iraq won their opening matches against Laos, Thailand and Oman respectively. The game between Kuwait and Yemen finished with a draw result of 1-1. Games held in Shahid Dastgerdi and Rah Ahan Stadiums located in Tehran but Iranian football fans didn’t notably attend the games as it was expected.

Kuwait and Yemen started the opening match of this tournament. Thekr Allah scored the first goal of the match for Kuwait in 19′ and Al-Dahi from Yemen scored the equalizing goal from the penalty spot on 71′. Alawi Fadaaq, Aiman Dahrog from Yemen and Hassan Hajeyh, Talal Alansari from Kuwait received yellow cards from Mohamed Al Zarooni, referee from Emirates.

Australia came over Thailand with two goals. Taylor Tombides and Joshua Macdonald were two scorers of Australia U-16 national football team. Aussie Alistair Edwards was very happy with his side.

Iran’s Nojavanan also beat Laos by scoring three goals. More than 1000 Iranian spectators joined Shahid Dastgerdi arena to cheer their team. In the second minute of the match Anousay Noyvong scored the first goal for Laos But a brace by Amirmohammad Mazloum and Seyedmajid Hosseini’s goal helped Iran to win its opening match. However Iran coach Ali Doustimehr was not happy with the performance of his players by saying: “It was a hard game for us especially after conceding the first goal from Laos. As I said before, Laos was the toughest competitor for Iran in this group. They fight for their team in all the minutes.” Doustimehr also ensured improving the performance of Iran’s team in the next games. Iran’s state television didn’t air the game and Ali Doustimehr was not happy with this and asked for more support from all the officials.

In the last game of the first day, Iraq defeated Omani side. Iraq had full control over the match and Mahdi Abulzahra and Samer Majid scored two goals for Iraqi team. Sultan scored the first goal for Oman on 61′. Oman’s Dutch coach Piet Heinrich Van Der Horst was the big looser of this match because yesterday he ensured reporters to win this match by expressing his domination over Iraq’s tactics.
