Christoph Daum, the German football manager, is linked to Esteghlal, the Iranian club.
According to the announcement by the head of director boards of Esteghlal, Christoph Daum is one of the options to take Esteghlal’s role. After the recent loss of Esteghlal to Sepahan FC during AFC Champions League games which eliminated Esteghlal in knockout phase, the executives of Esteghlal are looking to replace the head coach.
Club Brugge was the last team of Christoph Daum in 2011–2012. In 1994–1995 season he went to Turkey for managing Beşiktaş. In the same season he won the 1. Lig of Turkey.
However, Amir Ghalenoei has better chance to take the responsibility. He has won three titles with Tehran based club before. In 2005–06 he won Iran Pro League with Esteghlal and in 2002 and 2008 he claimed the title of Hazfi Cup with this club. He is currently the manager of Traktor FC but it seems he won’t renew his contract for the next season.
