Google’s Chrome browser now has the ability to view files from primary Microsoft Office programs—Word, Excel, and PowerPoint—for the first time. The feature allows for users to see files by using a plug-in that allows for functionality within the browser. Also featured in Chrome is a sandbox which protects users from virus and other maliciousness that might come from files opened in the browser.
The Chrome OS has had the ability to do this for some time now and is able to get new features with downloading plug-ins. This feature adds to Chrome being a business effect browser along with Google Admin Panel’s cloud-based management, a feature that is becoming popular in many towards business productivity.
It should be noted that Chrome beta is needed for the plug-in at the moment as it won’t work on the stable release.
