Egypt was the biggest exporter of orange to Iran in the previous Persian year. According to statistics released by Iran Custom, more than $75 million of oranges imported to Iran from the foreigner countries while more than 45% of them value $34 million were bought and imported from Egypt.
Turkey exported $26 million of oranges to Iran following by Emirates $5.5 million and South Africa $4.2 million. Also small amount of imports was from China, Spain, Syria and Russia.
The total value of the imported oranges to Iran was declined by 32% in compare to the last year and total weight of them reduced by 35% to 125,000 tons.
The value of the Iran’s exported orange was around $1.3 million which had small change in compare with the last year.
In the previous year, there were some debates about importing Israeli oranges but the Central Custom rejected the claims.
