UAE Football Federation decided to cancel a friendly match against Iran which was planned for the next week because of “political reasons”.
“We decided to cancel this friendly match because of the political reasons. And this is our official position against the visit of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the UAE island of Abu Musa occupied by Iran since 1971.” Yousuf Al-Serkal the chairman of the Committee said in a statement on the official website of the UAE Football Federation.
It was decided to establish a friendly match at Emirates Stadium in Fujairah next Tuesday in Iran’s preparations to start its career in the final stage of Asian qualifying for the World Cup 2014.
There was not any signed contract between Iran and UAE Football Federations so Iranian cannot claim for any compensation.
