Farhad Majidi, the former captain of Esteghlal FC who announced his retirement from professional football in the beginning of this season, has re-joined Esteghlal on 1.5 year term contract.
“Actually it was very important for me to play for Esteghlal FC in this season and end my career in my loved club. But the conditions hindered me to join Esteghlal in that time. Fortunately Ali Fathollahzadeh and Amir Ghalenoei created this opportunity for me to play for Esteghlal FC. Currently I cannot think about what will happen in future.” Farhad Majidi said after finalizing his contract with the Tehran based giant club.
“I signed a 1.5 year contract with Esteghlal and I will give my best services to the club.” Majidi added but he refused to comment about the past problems with Amir Ghalenoei.
Majidi started his youth career in Bahman. In 1995 he was picked up for the senior squad. He first joined Esteghlal in 1997. In 2007 Farhad started his fourth spell in Esteghlal until 2012. There were some rumors linking him to Esteghlal for the new campaign but improper relationships with new head coach, Ghalenoei, stopped him from signing with Esteghlal FC.
Farhad Majidi, 35, is one of the most popular players in Iran’s football. On 2010 he claimed the title of The World’s most Popular Footballer amongst active Players.
