According to the reports released by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute , India is the biggest importer and buyer of arms . South Korea , Pakistan and China are the other big buyers of arms .
The rate of arms trading between 2007 to 2011 has been increased in compare to trading rates of 2002 to 2006 , reports say . Also Asian countries was the biggest importers between 2007 to 2011 . Asian and Oceania countries imported 44% of total traded arms followed by Europeans (19%) , Middle Eastern (17%) , Americans (11%) and Africans (9%) .
Pieter D. Wezeman , Senior Researcher with the SIPRI Arms Transfers Programme , says : “Asian countries are going to reduce the number of their weapon import rates in the next coming years .”
