The first thing you need to do is to discontinue push notifications as these can drain the battery. Turn off push notifications by going into Settings – Notifications – Notification Center and then turn them off.
Turn off location services for your apps and games. You can turn Location Services on or off at Settings – Privacy – Location Services. You can stop Location Services on either during the Setup Assistant process or later through the Location Services setting.
If you use 3G data in areas with a low signal your battery will drain faster than if you were on an area with excellent 4G signal. So, if you’re in a spot with limited or poor signal you can turn off all data by setting your iPhone to Airplane mode. All data connections will be closed and your battery will last a very long time. Disable the Raise to Speak option of your iPhone. Siri get activated with the Raise to Speak option but it does use a great deal of power, you can turn it off if you don’t use Siri or just want to save battery life. Jump to Settings – General – Siri and then disable Raise to Speak.
Prevent email from being pushed to your iPhone 5 and check it manually to save battery. Go to Settings – Mail, Contacts, Calendars – Fetch New Data and then set Push to off.
Another life saving battery tip that can help you save your battery life is the brightness settings, go into Settings – Brightness and move the bar over to the left to make the iPhone display dimmer and to the right to make it brighter.
