Today marked Windows 10 Mobile finally launching. The update is available for several phones in the Lumia family on the 430, 435, 532, 535, 540, 635, 640, 640 XL, 735, 830, and 930 versions.
It already looks like a large number of Lumia handsets will get the update and Microsoft is targeting everything across the spectrum of budget and age to get Windows 10 on a variety of devices—especially on its own devices.
Microsoft still has a high goal of getting Windows 10 on one billion devices and had seen around 110 million installs in late October. Getting the mobile version of the OS out is another leg in that strategy which includes partnering up with Baidu and trying to get users to trade in PCs using older Windows versions.
Similar to the recent rollout of Android Marshmallow to Samsung Galaxy S6 phones, how quickly Windows 10 Mobiles hit Lumia is dependent on the carrier. Lumia users might want to pick up Microsoft’s Upgrade Advisor so that they will be on top of when the update hits their phone.
