Iranian Police Chief Brigadier General Esmail Ahmadi-Moghaddam has decided to fire the head of Iran’s Cyber Police over Sattar Beheshti’s death case. Many analysts and a few Members of Parliament said the Cyber division of Iran’s police violated the law after detaining the suspect which resulted in death of Sattar Beheshti.
According to this decree issued by Esmail Ahmadi-Moghaddam, the ex-chief of Iran’s Cyber Police didn’t have enough “supervisions on activities of his officers and forces in Cyber division”.
This is the first official reaction from Iranian authorities to Sattar Beheshti’s death. Iranians, opposition groups and governments of other countries have widely denounced the death of Sattar Beheshti while he was detained by Iran’s Cyber Police for “committing Cyber crimes”.
Previously Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani, the head of Iran’s Judiciary system, ordered an investigation into the case. Also Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee formed a special committee to probe the case.
The investigation is still ongoing.
