In keeping with the constant development and fine tuning of YouTube Gaming, the team announced several updates and bits of news around the service with most focused around expanding the viewer experience.
The biggest of these announcements sees the launch of YouTube Gaming’s mobile app in Australia, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. So you should notice an increase in top content creators’ shows and newer streams. If you’re like me and at times feel like you’ve watched the same players over and over, now you have more options from elsewhere.
The homepage updates are mainly cosmetic. Sidebars were ditched, the team added more pages for browsing, and there’s a “Live” tab for the top tier live streams. As the name suggests, popular live streams and popular games being played can be found there.
As for the app, you can now pop-out the YouTube Gaming player over whatever other apps you might jump decide to open. This is available only on the Android version. For iOS and desktop users, the Android live stream player will be available with a number of upgrades including quality changing and 60fps playback.
